Capital One Cup Final
From its start at Wembley in 1967, the Capital One Cup Final is thought to be the first major cup final of the English football season. Who can forget Queens Park Rangers come back? From a near 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion they achieved a final result of 3-2!
Although fewer clubs enter – 92 clubs as opposed to 758 for the FA Cup – this is nonetheless a popular competition, as clubs can qualify for the UEFA Europa League if they haven’t managed to qualify their league positions and clubs. For example, Arsenal and Manchester United use the opportunity to give their younger players valuable game experience.
At the time of going to press, Manchester City are still in the running for their 4th Capital One Cup Final title, despite their hopes being dented by a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal. If they get through their next matches, they face the most successful club of the Capital One Cup, Liverpool, who have 8 titles to their name, on 1st March.
Tickets are being highly sought after, but have not currently been allocated, so keep a check The Capital One website for further news of this and future fixtures.
