Planning your Perfect Wedding Day

Planning your wedding day is always going to be a stressful time, even for the most organised of couples. Sometimes what you really need is someone with heaps of experience at guiding brides down the aisle, to give you a helping hand to organise your perfect wedding. Lauren, our dedicated Wedding Coordinator at the Bull Hotel, has over 3 years experience of helping wedding couples dreams come true, and she has held an impressive 213 weddings at the Bull Hotel so far!

Lauren is fully aware of the worries and struggles that come with planning a wedding, and has shared with us some of the most frequently asked questions and top tips for organising your big day:

When should I book my church or civil ceremony?

To ensure your day runs smoothly, Lauren suggests booking your ceremony 6 hours before you wish your reception to start. This allows for a 30 minute service, an hour and half for drinks and photos, 3 hours for the wedding breakfast and speeches, and a 1 hour turnaround for the room before the reception starts.

We are ready to confirm the Bull Hotel as our wedding venue – What are our next steps?

The first step after deciding on your perfect venue is to complete the contract and finalise the confirmation with a deposit. From this stage, Lauren will always be on hand to help with any queries you may have, and she will be in regular contact via telephone, email and face to face meetings at the hotel. A scrumptious menu tasting will be arranged for 6 months before your wedding, and then 1 month before the big day Lauren will meet with you to cover any final details.

When should I send out my invitations?

Your save the dates should be sent out 1 year before your wedding day – however if your wedding falls very close to a holiday or event (like Christmas) then save the dates should be sent about a month earlier to give your guests some extra time to make plans.

Invitations should then be sent about 6 months before your wedding day. If you are offering your guests a choice menu, this will give you plenty of time to send your menu options with the invitations. Your guests should RSVP 3 months prior to the big day, and then 1 month before the wedding, you will sit down with Lauren and run through all the final details including food, drinks, decor, bedrooms, and anything else you need to make your day perfect!

What happens on my Wedding Day? Where do we meet the registrars?

Typically, the registrars will arrive 1 hour before your ceremony and will meet with the groom in the wedding suite. They will then meet with the bride 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony. If the bride is getting ready at The Bull, the registrars will meet her in her bedroom, if she is getting ready elsewhere, she should arrive at the hotel 15 minutes before the ceremony is due to begin.

Following both the bride and groom meeting with the registrars, the Bull Hotel’s Operations Team will encourage all guests into the wedding suite and will then collect the bride, so as not to risk any guests seeing her before the big entrance!

If you would like to see the Bull Hotel set up for a beautiful wedding, and meet with Lauren for a show round and chat about your big day, then join us on the 16th October for our Wedding Showcase. If you can’t make the event then don’t worry, you can contact Lauren on 01753 202919 or email [email protected] and she will happily arrange a time to meet and discuss your dream wedding day.
